    The Market

I made the comment earlier about gas prices. As gas prices go down, could that help McCain's cause.

Today, the Market is expected to close with a near record day. I know Obama has the lead in the polls, but could this market recovery help McCain and the Republicans? Especially if we see the market recover over the next month, eliminating the fear American's have over the economy.

I don't care how the market rebounds, I'm still not pleased with Republican trickle-down economic policies--and I dare say the same goes for a lot of people voting in this election, thusly why you see Obama having a lead in the polls.

    Re: The Market

It wouldnt eliminate the threat at all. Its not the fact that the economy was down right now, its who would be better for it when they come into office. And that fear isnt going away for Americans, so not much help for Mccain.

Yet you're perfectly fine with Obama's trickle-down policies.

    Re: The Market

The market is still very shaky. Fear is ultimately what brought it down so far last week, and confidence is what took it back up today. Plus the fact that last week the Dow kept bottoming out around 8000. I doubt it goes below that at anytime, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the week plays out. I have a feeling though after today's huge gains early tomorrow we will see stocks drop initially and then rise back toward the end of the day. We aren't going to see very many days like this though again though unless the market bottoms out again.

His policies are more consumer driven than corporate driven. We've had 8 years of trickle-down policy--time to give another policy a turn so the market can even back out overall.

Money can't just go to the top because it's kept there and hoarded, and then you have big corps that lord over the people and ultimately cripple them so they have to depend on those big corps.

And you still haven't answered my question from the other thread that you responded to with a question.

McCain's plan to fix the housing market isn't socialism? He's promising what looks to be another bailout to the tune of 300 billion dollars and it involves nationalizing bad mortgages. He himself is going down the road to socialism, at a cost of 300 billion dollars to reward people for buying homes that they couldn't afford. Supporting this socialistic plan, McCain is making same mistake that killed him during the bailout. He's definitively proving that he's not really a fiscal conservative.

...but that's not what McCain wants, he wants to bail them out and buy the loans to save the "homeowners" (read: banks' assets).
